TWLIGHT

Twilight has to be my favorite time of day. I love to get out side and do that last minute stuff just before dark and then you are forced to come in and face the household tasks of shutting down your house for the day. Such as tonight, Joshua decided he HAD to play ball. This is nothing unusual for him. Jed bought him a T-ball stand for him to practice on. That was when he was two! Josh is pretty good at hitting the ball off it. If it's not being used as a T-ball stand then it's being used at a bottle rocket launcher. A very useful piece of equipment. We'll tonight, Josh wanted me to play ball. You have to picture a three year old wearing his big brothers shoes, a regular bat and and me in the pitching position. He would hit the ball and throw the bat and run in some unnamed direction and clap his hands as if he did what he was suppose to to. I clapped and encouraged him to come my direction and NOT throw the bat. We do this several times. This time when he comes up to bat, he stops and says, HAT.... off he goes into the house.... clop clop clop... and comes out with the baseball helmet. He knew exactly where it was. Up to bat again, he strikes the ball, throws off the helmet, throws the bat and off he runs. Why he throws the helmet off, I don't' know? Do the big leagues do this? We do this several times. Playing fetch with a three year old is a lot like dial up Internet. VERY VERY SLOW! you have to have lots of patience. At some point he wants me to bat! So, now it's MY turn.. I hit, jump up and down and not RUN! I just act excited. He then tells me HAT HAT.... okay... I put it on... hit the ball.... then the very next time he says hat off.... THANK YOU! It was a little hot and I looked a little stupid standing there, not that I'm waiting for the fashion police to come, but relieved of my duties. We were interrupted with Daddy coming home and game over. I used to do this more often when my big kids were this age and we would play ball. We have down sized and all the big kids have better things than to play ball at twilight. But... the fifth child must learn to play ball..... HELP!~
