why liz was sending test a test message

I have had some kind of a day.  I hope you have noticed that I have not sent out something to the lizard list in about a week. I had been having problems with sending a message.  The message always timed out.

 

So.. tonight, as you have seen, by the weird coded message... THIS IS A TEST.. JUST A TEST..  message you got.... I... fixed the problem while talking to a level 2 tech guy for bell-south.

We tried everything....   when I send out a message I BCC my addresses to you.  You have to have a email address in the TO field.  So, I put my address in that field and send.  So I always get a return message of what I just sent. ( this way I can clean out my sent box quite often) 

 

THIS IS THE GOOD PART....

 

I told the guy.. let me miss spell my name and see if that is the problem.  I did and sent him a message also with BCC'ing you all too.  IT WORKED...... so it was MY ADDRESS the whole time. NOT BELL-SOUTH, NOT MY ADDRESS BOOK WITH ALL 386 CONTACTS, NOT MY GROUP LISTS I HAVE CREATED..... my NAME.

 

He came to a logically deducted reason that maybe my contact name had gotten corrupted on the server and that was keeping the message to not get sent out.  So.... we deleted my contact name and then reentered it.  IT TOTALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM@@ YES@@@

 

My Fray MILL list and LIZARD lists that I have created had my name in common.  Those were the two list it would not send out to.

 

HE SAID:  thank-you for helping, and this was above the textbook protocol.  LIZ EXAMPLE; It's like learning a new medical procedure and  now it will come out in the new Journal of Medicine.  He will tell his supervisors and maybe that will help someone else!!

 

I usually don't like TECH people.   they are helpful, but takes a lot of effort to tell them the whole story of what went wrong.   Sometimes two times when you get transfered and the language barrier we encounter.

I have made up my mind, that IF I can not understand them, or have to ask them to repeat more than twice I'm asking for their supervisor.  I WANT SOMEONE WHO CAN TALK AMERICAN ENGLISH...

This was probably the only time I have not wanted to bang my head on the keyboard after diagnosing my computer problem.

 

so.... I'm so sorry I have been absent... you will probably see an influx of emails to get caught up where I left off.  SOME GOOD STUFF OUT THERE...
