Have you seen the new movie out by Pixar called, "Ratatouille"? It is a cute adorable movie about rats wanting to be chefs! Nevertheless, that is Hollywood and they are still nasty little vermin~ Hope you get a chance to see the movie. I was blown away with the name and all the graphics. The trailer or short at the beginning of the movie is adorable and funny, too.
Many of you have viewed all the Pixar movies over the past few years. Some of you might know John Ratzenberger is in all the movies. I expected him to be in this one and he did not disappoint me. See if you can figure out which character he is. You know Cliff from Cheers~?
This movie will make you want to love rats or kill them every time you see them. Sort of like Bambie when it came out. We still kill Bambie and eat Bambie even when my kids were young. I'm not even sure they have seen Bambie
After seeing the movie with some friends, we went to eat at the restaurant my kids eat, live, and work at. Paul is the chef there. He made us a 'SPECIAL DISH' It was like icing on a cake.
We loved it!!! Can you guess which dish it was? He makes it at least once a month there at the restaurant~ Why am I just hearing about it????
Here is the great recipe! Many ways to fix it. Paul said it needs chicken stock in it.

With Ratatouille (a new animated movie from Pixar) coming out in a couple weeks, I thought it would be fitting for me to present a recipe for Ratatouille (a dish from Provence). This is a wonderfully flavorful vegetable dish that can be served as either a side or as a main entree. There are a variety of recipes for Ratatouille and the ingredients often change from cook to cook, but most contain eggplant (aubergine), garlic, onions, zucchini (Italian squash or marrows), and bell peppers. Usually the recipe is seasoned with Herbes de Provence, but (as in this recipe) it can be as simple as parsley and basil. Often the individual vegetable components are cooked separately in olive oil, but I like this recipe that cooks the vegetables together.
To begin, assemble the ingredients: 6 garlic cloves, 5 medium button or brown mushrooms (I prefer brown for more flavor), 1 medium zucchini, 5 sprigs of Italian parsley, 4 sprigs of basil, 1 medium onion, 1 can diced tomatoes (or 2 tomatoes peeled, seeded, and diced), chicken or vegetable stock (we'll need 3/4 cup or 180mL), 1 Tbs. tomato paste, 1 medium green bell pepper, and 1 large eggplant (about 1 pound or 450 g). Drain the canned tomatoes.
You just never know what a day is going to bring, and while you can't sit
around fretting about what-ifs, it would be nice if you could be prepared
in some...
