Hello Friends,
The fourth of July has always been my long time favorite holiday. Long before I had Joshua, also. I've never been away to NOT celebrate our Independence and now Joshua's birthday. (certainly independence from contractions)
My good friend Teresa gave him a party. I will show you the photos when I get them. I am anxious to see them also. He is still just a little to small to know the fireworks and the hoopla is for our holiday and not his birthday. But it's nice to have both for a birthday!!!
The day we woke up, it probably was just after midnight here in America, I was ready to go!!
We still had a job to do with the kids that we were in charge of. I donned my red, white and blue shirt and wore it proudly. Somewhere in our day, the American flag came out and we had our own ceremony. Paul and other team member Jessie (retired Navy) posted the colors. We had our own rehearsal and gathered all the Americans at the home and sang Our national anthem. with gusto!
One of the team members has it recorded. That will be funny to see and hear. We knew back home, everyone was grilling out, having parties, shooting fireworks. At least which we won't get to do here, the shooting fireworks part.
Later that night, before the big bon fire, we had a 'eating' out party. It was late, but who cares, we were eating out and grilling out!! As we ate, SOMEONE shot off some fireworks. SO AFTER ALL, we did see some!! Made me a little sad, but at least we got a glimpse of some.
I was proud to be an AMERICAN on July 4th, 2008.
AND
Happy 4th Birthday to JOSHUA ALLEN GALLINA
Liz
