Hey folks,
Today was a good day for communication. We received letters from Jed on Friday.
He is doing well. He did start Boot camp on the 16th... he was very anxious to start. He did try to call on Friday night to tell me his address. The reception was very poor. Hard to hear on the phone. I'm sure I will get a letter soon. They have nic named him Baby face. He does have smooth skin. The oldest in the platoon he was in 'reception' was 38. His bunk mate was 33.
The youngest is 18. The day he got there and the next he was up for more than 24 hours. He was pretty tired when he went to bed. He knows it will be tough the next few weeks. He is embracing that part of boot camp. He went to church last sunday on base. He enjoyed that. He said he was not stressed out or worried when he was there. He is amazed at the language that men use ALL the time and the respect they are giving to the flag. At 5:30 each day the colors come down and no matter where you are at, you stop and salute and turn toward the flag. I know that instills respect.
He sounded good in the letters. He tried to paint a broad picture of what he had been doing.
He is running a lot and doing pushups~ I'm sure we will have fun with that when he comes home. He does get to come home over the Christmas break. That will be good. He wants to sleep, eat, go hunting and play with his little brother. He makes sure we know that he loves his little brother at the end of each letter. I know he is missing him. Josh has resigned to know that Jed is in the ARMY and won't be back for a while. Maybe we'll send him his hand prints.
Okay..
just a run down on his life thus far~
HOOAY~

You just never know what a day is going to bring, and while you can't sit
around fretting about what-ifs, it would be nice if you could be prepared
in some...

Liz, I printed out those 3 letters
you sent from Jed, easier to read
yes its going to be lonesome without
Jed, but it will get better, I know
because when Ken left for the navy
its was hard on me and your dad
he was only 18 too
we all will just have to keep jed in our prayers, and you and the rest of
your family and Josh
love mom and Meme
